TOPIC: [SOLVED] Weird behaviour

[SOLVED] Weird behaviour 2 years ago #82

  • Andreas
Hi,

I've put in the following syntax in one of the default FAQ articles located in the Category General:

{faqslider tabs}General{/faqslider}

If you set 'Default display type' in the Back-end setting to 'Sliders' end leave the rest as default the page will not show but here comes the funny part.

Clicking the back button in the browser I get back to the contents of the General Category in the FAQ Section where the number of 'Hits' for that particular article increases at by 200 each time you try to access it

Hi

Are you placing the code in an article that is in the category you are trying to display? If so, you are likely to cause a server crash as you have set up an infinite loop. Each time the server tries to display the article, it tries to display the article within a slider within itself ad infinitum.

The category name must also be unique. If you have other categories that contain the word "general" the plugin will be unable to load anything.

I will try to make some changes to clear some of these issues up...

I've just tested the hit count increment when articles are displayed with the plugin. For non-logged in users, the hit count increments correctly for each article displayed, including the article which contains the plugin code.

However, rather strangely, when a user is logged in the hit counter increments by 2 for each article each time the page is loaded. I will have to look into that.

However, this is not causing the above issue as far as I can tell.

Hi,

Well I knew that something weird was going on but I was just getting to know how the Plugin works.

I changed my syntax to {faqslider}General{/faqslider} in the beginning of one of the articles in the General Category and it seems to work just fine for that particular Category.

Except one thing that I must ask about. The code {faqslider}General{/faqslider} appears in the article and thereby also the FAQ article, is this normal behaviour?

Another configuration thing I have is that I'd like to implement a FAQ containing multiple Categories, is that doable?

Ok, please have a look at this test site under the General and Current Users Categories of the FAQ.

Checkout the insanely large amount of hits one of the articles have.

Also I really need a more step by step like guide (or best practice if you will) on how to setup a single, multicategory FAQ. I quite don't seem to get the logic of the process yet.
