Hi there,

Really like your FAQ Slider Plugin but I'm having an XHTML validation issue with it

Validation Output: 7 Errors

1. Error Line 380, Column 23: document type does not allow element "div" here; missing one of "object", "applet", "map", "iframe", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag

<p><div id="faqslider"><dl class="tabs" id="faqTabs"><dt id="panel1"><span><str…

The mentioned element is not allowed to appear in the context in which you've placed it; the other mentioned elements are the only ones that are both allowed there and can contain the element mentioned. This might mean that you need a containing element, or possibly that you've forgotten to close a previous element.

One possible cause for this message is that you have attempted to put a block-level element (such as "<p>" or "<table>") inside an inline element (such as "<a>", "<span>", or "<font>").
2. Error Line 497, Column 6: end tag for element "div" which is not open

</div>

The Validator found an end tag for the above element, but that element is not currently open. This is often caused by a leftover end tag from an element that was removed during editing, or by an implicitly closed element (if you have an error related to an element being used where it is not allowed, this is almost certainly the case). In the latter case this error will disappear as soon as you fix the original problem.

If this error occurred in a script section of your document, you should probably read this FAQ entry.
3. Error Line 498, Column 6: end tag for element "div" which is not open

</div>

4. Error Line 503, Column 6: end tag for element "div" which is not open

</div>

5. Error Line 497, Column 6: Opening and ending tag mismatch: body line 86 and div

</div>

6. Error Line 498, Column 6: Opening and ending tag mismatch: html line 4 and div

</div>

7. Error Line 503: Extra content at the end of the document

</div>

If I remove the content around the FAQslider [used inline], the site validates...

ANY help would be greatly appreciated the site is in the educational sector and for some reason some of the viewers are all bent out of shape about that

Sincerely,

Emmanuel.

Hi Emmanuel

I'm afraid that FAQ Slider does validate. A lot of work went into making sure that it did, for instance generating individual id tags if it is used more than once on a page! Unless you are placing content that is not allowed within the sliders/tabs I suspect this is all because you have put FAQ Slider in a <p> tag. This often happens with WYSIWIG editors but is unhelpful as you then have illegal and orphan elements as the browser tries to clear up the mess. Change that to a <div> and see what happens. If this doesn't fix things then please post examples of the content that are causing issues...

Hi there,

Thanks for the comment/reply, it helped me solve the problem and find a way around it as well.

Keep up the GREAT work!
and if you're ever in San Francisco, I'll buy you a beer!

Cheers,

Emmanuel.
